America250: Weaving the Tapestry of Us
As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society is proud to join the Washington State America250 celebration, "Out of One, Many." We believe that the American story isn't just found in history books—it is a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of millions of individual family journeys. Whether your ancestors arrived centuries ago or your family’s American story began just recently, your history is a vital part of the "Tapestry of Us."
The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society's 2025–2026 season, "Your American Story," is dedicated to connecting our personal discoveries to this national milestone. From military service and professional achievements to the quiet, everyday acts of community building, we are honoring the people who served as the true building blocks of our nation. Throughout the year, we invite you to participate in special projects and events designed to bring these stories to light and preserve them for the next 250 years.
Our America250 Goals & Activities:
● Share Your Discoveries: Join our "My American Story" tables for casual show-and-tell sessions where members share photos, research, and breakthroughs.
● Tapestry Talks: Participate in bite-sized oral history presentations that connect a single powerful family moment to a broader national theme.
● First Footprints: Help us build a collaborative visual display documenting our ancestors’ origins and their very first steps on American soil.
● Community Crowdsourcing: Bring your "mystery" photos, heirlooms, or illegible documents to our experts for collective analysis and problem-solving.
● Building the Legacy: Engage in family history as a "team sport" by helping fellow members document and preserve their unique contributions to the American narrative
