November General Meeting - Beyond the Nutcracker: German Christmas Traditions
Looking for a festive way to start the holiday season? Mark your calendars for our upcoming virtual meeting on Wednesday, November 4th at 6:30 PM, featuring author, genealogist, and speaker Claire Gebben. In her presentation, "Beyond the Nutcracker: German Christmas Traditions," Claire will explore how 18th- and 19th-century German immigrants shaped beloved holiday staples—from decorated trees and “Silent Night” to the story of the Nutcracker—as well as fascinating traditions still celebrated in Germany today.
Even if you don’t have German roots, this presentation offers something for everyone. Embracing seasonal traditions, heritage recipes, and music is one of the most natural, engaging ways to share family history across generations and get younger family members curious about their own roots.
